Shamsa and Sushi

The story deals with the experience of a girl named Shamsa who tries to eat sushi for the first time. The story comically shows her reaction to how weird and strange the taste of this food is as well as finding it extremely unusual to use wooden sticks to eat it. She finds that this episode is extremely interesting and nauseating for the food is rubbery and prepared with smelly raw fish. The story ends with Shamsa’s mother clarifying to her that sushi is part of the Japanese cuisine and that trying new things is always benefecial despite one’s reaction to the experience.
